Peter Anderson

London-based photographer Peter Anderson has been ‘making pictures’ (as opposed to just taking photographs) for the past twenty years. Originally specialising in edgy music and fashion photography, he’s shot everyone from Iggy Pop to Oasis, taking in icons such as Madonna along the way.

"I specialised in making hard contrasting black and white shots, printed in my own darkroom."
His individual style and hard hitting imagery caught the attention of Mick Jagger and Paul Weller. Many renowned artists have chosen to work with Peter because of his unwillingness to compromise and the honesty in his imagery.

Peter’s work has expanded into advertising and exhibitions. His debut exhibition ‘CAR’ at The Chamber of Pop Culture in London was a passionate exploration of the world of high performance cars in which landscapes, individuals and vehicles were joined in ‘religious ecstasy’. Instead of choosing the obvious set up of cars blurred in motion, Peter chose to capture the inherent dynamism of extraordinary "machines" while at rest, through detailed close ups, acutely angled shots and stark perspectives.

From the early 80s Peter Anderson was Staff Photographer for NME, and was commissioned by the following international music and style magazines – Face, ID, City Limits, Spin (NY), Spex, Rolling Stone, Rockin’ On (Japan), Ray Gun, Wire, Blah Blah Blah, Dead Fuel, Grey Fuel, Fancy tool Pub, Pride, Bike.
